Now, this song is old. Very old. But it is absolutely timeless. This song I will always remember my Dad and his brothers singing to my Nana at her birthday up north and I have chosen it especially because it is Mothers Day. So here is the one and only, legendary, Prince Tui Teka singing "Mum".
*I couldn't find a decent video with good sound because it was from 1982! The year I was born!
Golly this is definitely a blast from the past! And I love it all over again! And I hear the Maree Sheehan has recently started making music again! Awesome I say!
This week I am going back in time! Dam Native, formed in 1992, are the pioneers of hip hop in Aotearoa (NZ), they bought international respect and props to NZ hip hop and music. Focused mainly on issues involving politics and kaupapa Maori.
This trio banded together and toured the countrys churches. I love them individually so together is just magic! I really had hoped to have attended but couldn't afford it in the end. I did however see them in a more casual atmosphere, the Winery Tour! Amazing!
Here is a clip from the Church tour. Beware, it may give you goosebumps and/or bring you to tears!
All the way from, well, just down the road really! Htown girl Kimbra has come so far from the little girl I remember seeing in the local Christmas in the Park a few years ago. Now she is known around the world, even has a grammy or two!
I'd never heard of this girl until this week, I thought it was Colbie Calait, but I was suprised to
see it was a Kiwi girl from Auckland!
JAMIE MCDELL
DAY 23
I think they've been around for a while but only recently have we added them to our
collection, and since we did I have listened to them loads! This song reminds me of times with
my Hunys family up north, Uncle D and the boys setting the band up and jammin! Love it!
TAHUNA BREAKS
There is another song I love, Sophie's Lullaby, you should check that out too!
DAY 24
This next one is taking it back a couple of decades! But you know what? They are still going hard!
They will never get old, I don't think!
ARDIJAH
DAY 25
CHE FU
DAY 26
This band were awesomest in their day, not sure what happened to the rest of the band but Che Fu
went his own way and is doing very well for himself!
