The Week That Was

What a busy, busy week! We've celebrated two big milestones in the kiddiwinx life, 1 year old and 5 years old.
On Sunday, Mumma, Master K and Aunties took Miss A to the movies, we watched Brave. Very cool movie! I definitely recommend it! Master slept thru most of it, yay!

Wednesday - Oma and Aunty Midge went back to Wellywood. Miss A had her last ever session at playgroup, she took along mumma's cupcakes and they sung Happy Birthday to her. At work, we celebrated Matariki, the Maori New Year, with a special lunch menu and a performance by the hospitals KapaHaka.

Thursday - Miss A had an awesome last swimming lesson where she learnt how to do backstroke!

Friday - Dadda had a day off and we enjoyed a family day, Miss A spent some of her birthday money at Smiggle! The rest of the money she wants to save up for a purple ipod! Grown up much?!
We then went to see Ice Age 4! Love those movies! Being the school holidays there are even more movies coming out that I would love to take the kids to. Madagascar 3 and Tinkerbell are musts!
I also paid her school fees and picked up her school pack! Dadda was not allowed to look thru it, it was her things! Little monkey!

And today, the kids and I met up with some of the mummas and bubbas from my FB "coffee group"! I guess we are a coffee group but we are spread out around NZ and Oz, we were all due around June and meet nearly everyday on FB. I think I have mentioned them before, they are an awesome bunch of ladies and we have a gorgeous collection of babies! And it is so great when we can get together.

Birthday Week!

This morning I wake up thinking this time 5 years ago I woke up to stare at my beautiful new baby, I remember waking up in the night in a panic because she hadn't woken up at all! And on Saturday friends and family came to celebrate two big milestones, Miss A turning 5 and starting school soon, and Master K turning one and Mumma and Dadda making it thru that 1st year!

Last week wasn't exactly how I had planned with Miss getting quite sick, I was worried I was going to have to cancel the party! But on the days I stayed home and while the babies rested I baked and planned and wrote down lists! And it all came together in the end!

We had whaanau from Whangarei, Auckland, Wellington and even Australia come to the party! It was a great day, I wish it went slower though, I didn't get to really catch up with everyone but I guess that is what happens on these occassions right?!

Check this out.....

I wish I had my camera with me to take more photos but I don't think I would've had the chance to. I'm so thankful for all the help I had setting the party up, making things run smoothly and cleaning up too! But I am glad this doesn't happen very often, next big party will be in 4 years when Master K turns 5!

PS I will have more photos once I find my phone and SD card!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY SON!!!!

I can remember what I was doing a year ago today. I was waiting for contractions to start AGAIN! After days of false starts, plenty of walking around and a visit to the birthing centre for a check up in the evening, midwife popped my waters and 20 minutes of birthing in the pool my son arrived! There was no time for screaming or any carry on like that, Miss A was still in the room too, waiting for Aunty M to take her home for the night. It was a pretty special birth. And he has been a very special baby too.

My son, you bring so much joy to our lives and you brighten up even a strangers day with your smile. We love you so much Kauri Kerei.

In memory....

Last nite, the fight of a little brave boy came to an end. He passed away peacefully between his mum and dad in their home. When I read this in the middle of the night while settling my little boy, I gave him extra strong cuddles and told him that I love him so much and I will do anything for him.
I can't imagine how little Chace's parents, Keri and Ryan, are coping, I don't know how I would cope. But now their precious boy is in heaven, no longer suffering. Join me and send loads of aroha their way. And hug your babies even tighter and tell them how much you care.
Chace, I never met you, but you touched my heart and soul, I will think of your smile all the time. You have encouraged me to overcome my fear of giving blood and as soon as I am able to, I am going to the Blood donor centre and putting my name on the bone marrow donor. I am happy that you no longer suffer but a bit of my heart has broken for your parents. You are an angel now. xx

What did you do yesterday? I jumped off a bridge!

Yes! Another challenge crossed off my bucket list! I made my Huny take a half day and come with me to do a Bungy in Taupo! I was so excited, until I looked over the balcony down to the Waikato River. EEK!

But I did it! And it only took two countdowns!

I want to go again! And I really want to spend a week down there to explore more! So much to do and see and eat! lol! The team at Taupo Bungy are pretty choice!

The Week that Was

So the week started with a trip over to Thames for the start of my Dads new job! We checked out his new place, a fully furnished rental with room for us to stay! Sheep for lawnmowers, a beautiful deck with a window in the kitchen that opens onto a bar, what's it called? Freak I know there is a name for it! lol! So after that, we headed to his new work place for his powhiri (welcoming), the singing was amazing and the kai afterwards was delish! The staff are all very friendly too, Master K was being passed around happily!

Then my sister and I went to a gig in town. Black Seeds! They were totally amazing! Such an awesome performance! AND I met lead singer Barnaby Weir! Yay Me!

I realised that my baby girl is no longer a baby, she is soon to be big school girl! Eek! Check out the attitude.
And while dealing with a Miss Attitude tantie, mid nappy change, Master K got himself off the couch, to crawl outside to help himself to the chocolate milk big sister left on the picnic blanket on the deck! Oh what a big boy he is now.

Went exploring in town, Miss A found a coconut tree to imitate!
And she taught Master K how to lick the bowl and the spatula after Mumma has got the baking in the oven!

And I finally finished my first no sew tutu! Pretty happy with it!
