NZMM Day 31

WOW! It's the last day of NZMM for another year.
Hope you have enjoyed all the posts and have found some new musical flavours.
Support Kiwi Music and don't download illegally. That is a big rule in our house.

I know I've already posted a clip from this musician but the song is pretty moving and the video is epic.
It was used in the Rugby World Cup opening ceremony too! So I'm using it for my closing....

Quick note....

Eek! Broadband has run out! We've found Music Unlimited on the PS3, it is fantabulous to listen to old skool albums or ones w never knew were available! So the connection is super slow and frustrating trying to blog! I will try to catch up on my daily NZMM posts tomorrow or within the week as I can't do it from my phone =(
In the meantime, my sister has moved to Htown and in a few days my parents wel be here, Dad starts a new job only an hout and a half away, close to beaches! So many more Family Adventures will be happening! Can't wait! Oh and hopefully more date nights for my huni and me!

FAMILY ADVENTURES: Mini Golf

Good ol' GrabOne! I bought a family pass for mini golf for $12! Bargain! I was a bit weary on how Miss A was going to go, she can get quite frustrated fairly easily! I was suprised she lasted more then halfway before loosing concentration! And I think she will be more of a hockey player then golf!
Master K was quite happy watching for a while then decided he wanted to explore and eat stones! Yummy!

NZMM Day 20

I've just had a look thru the month, gee NZ has some talented Wahine alright!

NZMM Day 11

How about something a little different? We saw this duo years ago opening for Bic Runga. A couple of guys on stools with guitars. They were hilarious! It wasn't until a few years ago, they became more known on NZ tv, thanks to HBO in America. And this year their shows sold out in hours. People camped overnight outside the theatre selling tickets. Serious! I was super gutted, so keen to see them again. Do you know who I'm talking about? Yes, it is

FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS

NZMM Day 10

These guys are EPIC! A collective of some of NZs finest talents put together by mastermind Barnaby Weir. I dream of seeing them live. They are.....

  BLINDSPOTT

Tuesday, 8 May 2012

NZMM Day 8

Not many people know this band, we just happened upon them in a backbar one NZMM several years ago, from the very first song we were hooked! No longer together, I've seen the drummer drum for Brooke Fraser, and is also part of STOMP, the musical theatre phenomenon. And the lead singer, Bruce is now in London and has released his own solo album, he has a very unique voice that gives me goosebumps!
Right, enough talking, here is....

He is......

Tiki Taane

Isn't this vid beautiful!? I love it! It's one of my fave songs to run to as well! Check out his website tikidub for music and merchandise and read more about him!

New Fave Scroll....

Yesterday the kiddiwinx and I visited my SIL, who is sitting at home waiting for Baby Mac to make his entrance into the world, and the gorgeous kids! I took along an armful of food, pumpkin soup for the freezer, cute pinwheel bikkies and these holy moly yummy scrolls.....
Apple Cinnamon Scrolls with Cream Cheese Frosting

I used the Edmonds Scone recipe, rolled out and spread on a butter (100g softened), cinnamon (1-2 teaspoons), brown sugar (about 4 tablespoons) mix, then a layer of finely diced granny smith apple from Nans tree. Rolled up and in the oven until nice and golden.

I would suggest to bake them in a brownie tray or something of the like, because mine expanded over the baking sheet, and I think they unravelled a bit too!

For the frosting, I softened 1/2 a small container of cream cheese and about 50g of butter, beat that together with a drop of vanilla and maybe a cup of icing sugar, add more or less if you like, depends on how thick or thin you would like it.

Once the scrolls are baked and have cooled a bit, drizzle the frosting over or spread it on how you prefer. Enjoy!

NZMM Day 4

WoopWoop! This Mumma is going out tonite, to see these guys! Choice!!!!

Ddub

NZMM Day 3

Today you get a double whammy! Anna Coddington and Julia Deans!!!!! They toured together last year, I'm so gutted that I missed them, never mind....

Listen to them, they give me goosebumps!

What do you think?

MAY = NZ MUSIC MONTH

I love NZMM! Pre-kiddiwinx, my Huni and I would make the most of the awesome NZ music talent, before they became the household name they are now, we watched Op Shop in a back bar in town, Blindspott before they became a huge success, (but have since disbanded and make up Black List and I AM GIANT). Tiki Taane is awesome, Hollie Smith, Maisey Rika, Anika Moa are all so beautiful and soulful. There are so many more to list but I instead I will post a vid a day! Enjoy!

So, first up is

Six60

I am yet to see these guys live, missed them both times they were in town because Master K was still a little bubba and we had a shortage of babysitters at the time! Now they are touring (taking over) the world! Hopefully next time aye!
